Normal winter

I keep waiting for the frost, thinking it's really late, maybe it's an unusually warm winter, but when I look back over the blog I realise this is pretty normal at least for the last couple of years. We get a frost or two early then lots of rain and cloud cover in May and early June, then the weather clears and the next frost, and the really cold weather, hits around mid June. It's on the way, it's really not late at all! So when? Later this week or early next week. Pretty much as soon as it dries up we'll get really cold.

Amazing the difference a bit of cloud cover makes - it was 6.3 deg C outside when I got up! And that really does make a difference!

Syd Water, Killard, and bloody cold.

This morning the temp was 0.2 deg C outside my window, and the frost is heavier than yesterday.

I finally got round to reading the sign that goes with the mess that is still happening around the west edge of Tregear. Sydney Water is doing a water recycling program. Interestingly - notice the bit where is says "Work will be carried out in your area for approximately 4-6 weeks, weather permitting." I guess the weather wasn't being 'permitting' coz they've been here since the first half of April. And maybe someone noticed my April posting, or maybe it was coincidence, but the company name has appeared on the fences with the Sydney Water sign - Killard Excavations Pty Ltd.

Cold again!

Coldest October day in 60 years? And didn't we notice!

I'm told there was a brawl that broke out twice a few nights ago. People heard it and it got into the local paper. Eventually the cops arrested them. And if you look to the right on this page you'll see a news item about it. I guess some people have no life. Their lives must be sad bad and boring if that's the best thing they can find to do.

Cold

Getting cold in the mornings and warming up so quickly. I need a padded jacket and scarf to get out of the house to go to work, but by the time I get down to the station I have to take the scarf off. The jacket comes off at work and by the time I go outside for morning tea or lunch I don't need the jacket at all. Yesterday I knocked off just after 6 and didn't need the jacket for at least a half hour. This is tasting winter. Nearly time to put the timer on the heater so it comes on before I get up. Already time for my slippers and soft wooly shawl in the morning.
